HUSKY RESCUE - NEW ALBUM ‘SHIP OF LIGHT’

The Finnish band’s third album on Catskills Records, “Ship of Light”, will be released February 1st 2010.

Opening up a new chapter, some could say a transitional period in the Husky Rescue saga, “Ship of Light” is a strikingly fresh take on the bands charming pop and more intense in its ambience. Opener ‘First Call’ was recorded in the middle of the forest on a dark autumn night using wooden flakes on a string, an instrument traditionally used to ward off evil spirits, whereas single ‘ We Shall Burn Bright’ is sonically rich and haunting and the listener travels to the forests and beautifully empty landscapes of Finland.

This album is the reminder of Spring ,the sign of the first Daffodil and the lighter evenings, a transition into a new chapter. Listen and swoon…

With swagger and skill beyond his 18 years, this West Londoner is joining the dots between his heroes (Jay Z, Dizzee etc) to take British urban music forward and into the future.

Having cut his teeth spitting on the pirate radio stations around Shepherds Bush from the age of 14, Twizzle soon graduated to the local “Got West On Lock” freestyle competition. Which he won hands-down. Two years running. His reputation as a rhymer to be reckoned with soon brought him to the attention of Squarepeg management who hooked the young man up with producers Benji Vaughan and Greenmoney (remixers for Kanye West, Yo Majesty and many others). The results are outstanding and included this, Twizzle’s debut release: “Skydiving”.

Produced by the Greenmoney duo, Alex Phountzi of Bugs In The Attic and Leo Greenslade from the legendary club night YoYo, the track has that unmistakable energy of a 21st century UK dance floor: a melting pot of hip-hop’s strut, house’s tempo, drum n bass’s rabble rousing klaxon, pop’s instant hooks, plus.. that extra “something”.

Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw certainly agree, and have already begun hammering the track on their Radio 1 shows. Annie also included the “Dub Mix” on her current “Annie Mac Presents…” compilation. Camden’s Roundhouse also did when Twizzle took the stage in August for a superb debut show..

A man whose undoubtable talent is equalled only by his ambition, Twizzle is determined to put London on his back and take it to the top this year if it’s the last thing he does.

But these are the ghosts of Christmas past The Hush Now leaned on when they recorded “Wishing You A Happy Christmas.”
The Hush Now deliver a new Christmas classic with the swing of Jobim with soaring guitars releasing into a sing-along chorus of Fa La La’s.

THE HUSH NOW - CONSTELLATIONS

It’s not often that a band comes along and sweeps fans, bloggers and critics off their feet before playing a single gig. That was the case last year after Boston quintet The Hush Now released their self-titled debut. As the Boston Phoenix put it, the album meshed “lush sugar-spun melodies of shoegaze’s dreamy heyday” to “the hooky muscle of bands like Guided by Voices and Built To Spill.”

Produced by David Newton of The Mighty Lemon Drops and released last October, the debut climbed independent radio top 100 charts and drew comparisons to Prefab Sprout, Teenage Fanclub, and The Ocean Blue, among others. Blog buzz and radio play by BBC 6 further fueled interest in the band. All the while, the band had already finished recording album number two.

After a tour of the west coast, The Hush Now went back into the studio and put the finishing touches on their sophomore effort, Constellations which hits radio in the US and UK in Feb 2010. Of the album’s first single, Hoping and Waiting, the UK Music Review writes, “a little Stone Roses, a dash of Guided By Voices, a smidgen of Flaming Lips and a dose of Yo La Tengo; one of those classic pop tunes that pop up from time to time and catch you pleasantly off guard. This is superior indie pop from a band well worth keeping a very close eye and ear on.”

Old Indians Never Ever Die

Watermill present an hour long documentary film of the “Old Indians Never Die 2″ Indian Motorcycle rally, 24-26 July 2009 at Traquair House, Scotland, England.
The film is called “Old Indians Never, Ever, Die”.
Indian Motorcycles were produced in Springfield Massachusetts, Illinois, USA from 1901 to 1953. They were, in their day, the definitive American Motorcycle. Used by the Police, raced by top riders, hill climbers and stunt men as well as adored by the riding public. Sturdy and beautiful these bikes have a large following worldwide.
Over the weekend there were some 400 vintage machines from all over Europe, Australia and the USA.
The film is an affectionate portrait of the people who’s lives are so bound up in these amazing machines.
