In a time where Grime Mcs and plastic pop dominates the British charts, real music lovers welcome with open arms the first offering from British solo artist, King Jacks.

King Jacks is a Rock ‘N’ Roll solo artist. He walks with the swagger that his Britpop heroes have paved the way for. Returning from Manchester, armed with a collection of songs whose lyrics relate to the common man at a time where the people of the world are already joining together, he unifies truth and empowerment as he chants his way through this indie anthem ‘Heroes’.

Backed by a tribal drum loop, a chorus of vocals and the hand claps behind him, he walks down the middle of the road with his lyric before leading us to a stomping climax that demand the hands in to the air!  Backed up by a double A- side ‘I’m Not The One’ that yet again combines a roaring vocal with a pumping back beat, it seems that this ‘Born and Bred’ North Londoner has discovered the perfect combination of melody and beats! Indie and dance music! Manchester or London, this is Pure British Rock ‘N’ Roll!

Alongside the release of his album “Please Everyone, Please Yourself”, KJ has created a project called ‘e11even‘. It is based around the 11 tracks on his album, where each of those tracks is represented by a remix, a photograph and a video, all by different artist. He has been co-ordinating this for the last six months and is almost at the end with remixes by Beardyman, The Nextmen, Losers, E.P.I.C., High Rankin, videos featuring Danny Dyer and Frank Harper, and photoshoots with Rock ‘n ‘ Roll photography legends, Mick Rock and Andy Willsher. Brooklyn, NY – Amidst waves of richly textured melodies and driving beats rises a haunting voice intoning messages of modern hope and despair that will invade your memories.  This is the sound of HOME VIDEO, Collin Ruffino and David Gross, high-school friends from New Orleans who have been collaborating since their first short video in 1997.  After originally recording for electro powerhouse Warp Records, the band are self-releasing their second album, The Automatic Process, available on February 25, 2011 (physical to be releasd March 25, 2011)

Inspired early on by music from the likes of Massive Attack, Boards of Canada, Depeche Mode, and Phillip Glass, HOME VIDEO intertwine the classically-trained sensibilities of Gross with the confessional and at times existential lyrics of Ruffino.  With The Automatic Process, the band layers samples, synthesizers, piano, guitar, and live drums to build an electro-tinted minimalist rock that drives steadily towards the sublime — a spacious soundtrack evocative of a fractured dream.

Warp Records released Home Video’s first two EPs in 2004: That You Might, a 10” single that immediately picked up considerable attention in Britain from BBC Radio 1 and the NME, and Citizen EP, a five-song release that earned the band a feature in Rolling Stone.  In 2006, US-based Defend Music released the band’s debut album, No Certain Night or Morning. With infectious tracks like “Sleep Sweet” and “Gas Tank”, it’s no surprise that Grammy-nominated DJ Sasha picked two songs from the album to remix for his most recent release, Involver 2, which also included songs from Thom Yorke, Apparat and M83.  HOME VIDEO themselves have recently taken to the role of remixer, reworking songs for bands like Bear in Heaven, Wave Machines, Faunts, Bang Gang, and friends Naked Hearts.

HOME VIDEO produce all their music themselves, and adapt their studio creations into full-on live performances featuring a drummer and hypnotic visual projections.  During Home Video’s first European tour they had the opportunity to play in London with Blonde Redhead, who later invited the band to support them for three weeks of shows in North America.  Since then, HOME VIDEO have opened for such diverse acts as Justice, Yeasayer, Flying Lotus, Pinback, DJ Krush, Colder, and Radio 4. Taking advantage of Ruffino’s film education, the band has also made several of their own music videos. The band’s video for “I Can Make You Feel It” premiered on MTV2’s Subterranean, and had over 200,000 views after being featured for a week on the front page of YouTube.com.

The Automatic Process will be released Febraruy 25th, 2011 (physical to be released March 25th). Building on the band’s 2009 EP, It Will Be OK EP, expect more of their best, with key songs “The Smoke”, “An Accident”, “Every Love That Ever Was”, and the title track, “The Automatic Process”. The mighty Metronomy have announced the release of their new album, titled The English Riviera. More details to be announced shortly. Bassist Gbenga Adelekan told Triple J “it sounds like “Daft Punk meets The Eagles”. Can’t wait!

Following the release of its third full-length, Ship of Light, Finnish electronic-leaning indie sextet Husky Rescue let go of the stems from its “They Are Coming” single, handing them over to remixers Warrior One , Halogen, Kinema, and, here, Dave Graham.

The producer took the original song’s hushed vocal performance and set it atop a slowly swirling mass of amorphous sonics, lilting string melodies, and almost inaudibly soft, hand-plucked guitar rhythms. It’s a delicately made remix with the majority of Graham’s attentions paid to controlling the subtle rise and fall of every fragile element he saw fit to include.

London based 3 piece Citadels are set to release their single The Chemical Song through Pure Groove Records on March 1st.

This release follows their 2009 début single ‘Golden Islands’ through Friends vs Records, an up-beat summer single that was branded as ‘glistening art-pop’ by the Sunday Times, making it their ‘Hottest Download of the Week.’ Artrocker, The Fly and Disorder Magazine where amongst a plethora of further glowing reviews, including the accolade of Pop Justice’s ‘Song of the Day’.

The Finnish band’s third album on Catskills Records, “Ship of Light”, will be released February 1st 2010.

Opening up a new chapter, some could say a transitional period in the Husky Rescue saga, “Ship of Light” is a strikingly fresh take on the bands charming pop and more intense in its ambience. Opener ‘First Call’ was recorded in the middle of the forest on a dark autumn night using wooden flakes on a string, an instrument traditionally used to ward off evil spirits, whereas single ‘ We Shall Burn Bright’ is sonically rich and haunting and the listener travels to the forests and beautifully empty landscapes of Finland.

This album is the reminder of Spring ,the sign of the first Daffodil and the lighter evenings, a transition into a new chapter. Listen and swoon…

With swagger and skill beyond his 18 years, this West Londoner is joining the dots between his heroes (Jay Z, Dizzee etc) to take British urban music forward and into the future.

Having cut his teeth spitting on the pirate radio stations around Shepherds Bush from the age of 14, Twizzle soon graduated to the local “Got West On Lock” freestyle competition. Which he won hands-down. Two years running. His reputation as a rhymer to be reckoned with soon brought him to the attention of Squarepeg management who hooked the young man up with producers Benji Vaughan and Greenmoney (remixers for Kanye West, Yo Majesty and many others). The results are outstanding and included this, Twizzle’s debut release: “Skydiving”.

Produced by the Greenmoney duo, Alex Phountzi of Bugs In The Attic and Leo Greenslade from the legendary club night YoYo, the track has that unmistakable energy of a 21st century UK dance floor: a melting pot of hip-hop’s strut, house’s tempo, drum n bass’s rabble rousing klaxon, pop’s instant hooks, plus.. that extra “something”.

Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw certainly agree, and have already begun hammering the track on their Radio 1 shows. Annie also included the “Dub Mix” on her current “Annie Mac Presents…” compilation. Camden’s Roundhouse also did when Twizzle took the stage in August for a superb debut show..

A man whose undoubtable talent is equalled only by his ambition, Twizzle is determined to put London on his back and take it to the top this year if it’s the last thing he does.

With an album already in the making, Twizzle is THE urban artist to look out for in 2010.
